What is MicroLED and how does it compare to OLED?
Samsung claims its new MicroLED TV tech offers all the benefits of OLED without the drawbacks. Digital Trends will take a close look at CES 2018 to see if MicroLED TV lives up to the hype.
Apple is also looking to MicroLED to be the display in future Apple Watches and iPhones. It is still in the development stages, and the ability to reliably grow the tiny LED's to fit in a small watch display is a major hurdle.

Forget this. I’m waiting for super duper micro mini yaya screen 📺 technology with 20 trillion billion super duper lights per 1 billionth of an inch for super dee super blacks and 50 septillion colors on a 50 foot screen. Oh and 1024k.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the "O" part of OLED that anybody cares about, it's the elimination of backlights, self-lighting pixels for perfect black levels and viewing angles, low power consumption, and bending/folding ability. If that can be achieved without organic compounds then hooray bring it on, but until then OLED is here and does its job better than other displays currently available
ReplyDeleteReview mi TV 4
ReplyDeleteIsn't that basically OLED?
ReplyDeleteThis is much better than OLED but it will use more power. If they can shrink it down for compatibility in at least a 40" 4k screen then this will be the future of TV tech going further while OLED goes to phones and niche flexible screens. Considering it's LED and HDR is promoting brighter screens I'd expect a 5 year life span on a 5k+ nit panel before it starts to dull out and weaken. Good thing is that LEDs rarely burn out completely (It does happen though)... they weaken over time but can still produce a decent amount of light well past the estimated life span.
ReplyDeleteUntil this tech hits consumers and you can walk into a bestbuy to pick one up it's really a moot point whether or not its an OLED killer or not seeing as how OLED TVs have been on the shelves for the past several years and keep getting better each year. We still don't know what drawbacks microLED has either, and as mentioned in the video its not perfect. While you wait for MicroLED people have been enjoying the superior PQ provided by OLED for the past few years, and will continue to do so. When it comes to tech its never a good idea to wait, buy the best there is now, and when its time to upgrade in 5 years buy the best there is then or you'll be waiting forever.
ReplyDelete2012 tech of sony crystaled qled is just a rebrand of triluminos of sony.
ReplyDeleteSony manufactured and sold oled and fexible screens way back 2006 fyi..
If you can see individual panels that means they can’t scale it to make one full panel. So they can’t “scale it up or down however they like”.
ReplyDeletePixel density I’m sure is a concern. Every microLED display has been super huge wall size. If they could make a regular sized TV displaying standard resolutions (1080p or 4K) I think they would have showed it off already.
Guess we will be stuck with OLED for a while.
I stick with my beautiful LG OLED. Just waiting for that 8K.
ReplyDeleteWow. 3 minutes and no explanation on how it’s actually different than OLED.
ReplyDeleteWatching this on an IPS is just sad
ReplyDeletefunny how good this pictures look on my 10 year old Monitor

ReplyDeleteFirst qled and now micro LEDs Samsung should just give up already and join the oled revolution
ReplyDeleteThis technology is in Shape lcd aquos panel
ReplyDeleteWhat about reaction time, is it like good old tube?
ReplyDeleteSamsung always try ways of spicing up their stuff but sorry sam,LG is king
ReplyDeleteSamsung is just overhype Sony is better in the long run.. just like the iPhone foh!!!
ReplyDeleteThe cheaper to make the less components they use the more they sell it for.
ReplyDeleteThe level of cancer in this comment section is astonishing.
ReplyDeleteThis thing won't take off anytime soon nor replace the current mainstream standard of LED tv's which is what every one can afford at this time, ok got it.
