ReplyDeletecan't I just get more RAM?
ReplyDeleteif i was to use this with a 2nd hard drive (storage) that isnt my boot drive, will i require a re-install of windows?
ReplyDelete... LINUS .... You still one of the TOPS !
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly not a techy, but I thought I'd tell you that I recently bought an Alienware R6 with Optane memory. It has all the good stuff, a 2 TB hard drive, an i7-7700 liquid cooled cpu and Intel 1080 video card, etc. And so far, it appears to be everything I want or need. It functions beautifully in that it boots quickly and loads my regularly used programs at what seems to be an ever quicker pace each time I use them. Of course, it is still extremely new for me so this may just be my imagination, but I do love my new system! Thank you so much for your channel as you've answered many of my questions and taught me a lot, all while being very entertaining to boot... pun intended.
ReplyDeleteThat's a clunky ass hybrid drive implementation...
ReplyDeletewhat about RAID 0 or RAID 10? D: it can like, in some cases double the performance
ReplyDeleteUm... those weren’t tam🅱️ons! In the thumbnail, those were hard drives! You pig!
ReplyDeletecan it work with laptops m.2 slot? thanks
ReplyDeletei laughed my lungs out when Linus said "You can't have speed without selling a body part" 0:50
ReplyDeleteI have really question. can I download windows 7 software in (M.2)SSD ? plz I need answer

ReplyDeleteGot chassis intrude error. GG.
ReplyDeleteNever buy things from ShameSung , the ShameSung note7 has made it a dangerous for all people.
ReplyDeleteSon built his first PC & selected the 32GB Optane to work with a 4TB WD black HHD. You need to press F6 during Win10 install to setup the HDD in GPT mode then format as one big drive space. After your system is fully operational, windows & drivers all installed, then install the Optane driver and enable it- not before. Note: it takes a long time for the Optane to populate its memory so be patient! We achieved a consistent boot time of less than 15 seconds & apps should load up to 90% faster AFTER they have been run for the first time. The intel & Gigabyte docos are terrible so ignore them, they’ll just confuse you. Good Luck! It’s worth it.
ReplyDeleteI just bought 1 terabyte ssd and it's enought space for games and other files. For now
ReplyDeleteI purchased the 16GB model, not realizing that it could not accelerate a RAID volume, and I use it for my page file instead. In some sense, I'm running a hybrid memory model wherein half of my memory is slower and less expensive.
ReplyDeleteOptane sounds like a drug
ReplyDeletehi there,
ReplyDeleteis it possible to set it as cpu cash?? it would be cool for CAD rendering :)
Could you use Optane on a SSHD Firecuda???
ReplyDeleteI'm using Gigabyte Mainboard, Gaming B8, and my CPU is i5-7600. I tried everything, but my Mainboard didnt enable my Optane 32GB. Can you help me?
ReplyDeleteBuy a regular new gen 3D $$D with more GB and what another hdd drive. Optane makes you buy intel product i3 i5 i7 and intel motherboard maybe new rams.
ReplyDeleteI get it now. I thought it was another ssd, I couldn’t understand why is it so damn small.
ReplyDeleteBullshit. I will buy SSD only.
